Public safety advisory

On August 16 at 4:42 a.m., UIC Police responded to a security alarm at a 7-Eleven at 1350 S. Halsted St. Upon arrival, the store clerk stated that an offender had taken a bottle of wine and threatened the clerk with it before demanding three packs of cigarettes. The offender then fled southbound on Halsted St. and eastbound on 14th St. UIC Police searched for the offender but did not find him.

The offender is described as a black male, 30 to 35 years old, 5'8" to 5'10" and approximately 185 lbs. He was seen wearing a blue baseball cap with red letters, white button-down short sleeve shirt with red and blue stripes, blue jeans and brown shoes. The offender matches the description of an offender in a theft which took place at a nearby 7-Eleven on August 15.
